Love Means……

I grew up hearing “Love means never having to say you are sorry.” Baloney. I know that the movie of Love Story, based on the book by Erich Segal, was just the most moving story of those times, but I often wondered what Mr Segal meant by that phrase.

If I do something to upset my KoD (like that would ever happen) – I darn tooting must apologize! And vice versa. A simple “I am sorry” goes a long way, especially if you really are sorry for your behaviour.

I would love to know what you think this quote means, and whether you agree or disagree, PLUS what does Love mean to YOU?

the quote comes around the 46 second mark.

    From a guy’s point of view…

L-O-V-E means ALWAYS saying your sorry, even if you’re not in the wrong. :)

Mattit_TOFY – how many years you been married? ;)

    and what’s your secret?

Love certainly doesn’t mean never saying “I’m sorry.” On the contrary it means being willing to admit to and apologize for hurting the one you love if and when it happens.

I don’t know the movie or book you’re referring to but I have heard the expression many times. I assume that never saying I’m sorry would lead to a disintegration of the relationship between lovers faster than a good and sincere apology when warranted.

Oh and as far as what love means to me… Love, to me, means giving your partner the same respect and consideration you expect for yourself.

Chanief- that was a fantastic summing up on my thoughts of love. It is a constant goal.

R and I celebrate our second anniversary tomorrow! And since we work together, he wants to take me out of work early and go to the theater and dinner. Sometimes working together is SO good.
