Final Step

Tonight I will cross the final frontier. I will take the final step and throw out the remainder of my fat clothes. For the longest time I have been wearing pajamas and sweats that are about five sizes too big. There just didn’t seem any point in replacing them – I mean, they are so comfy and not tight and are worn and soft… Thankfully, the 45 lbs or so that I lost does not look to be returning at any point in the near future, so I really think it is time to let go.

I have some favourite pieces – perhaps I should make them into a quilt or something? My pink Betty Boop PJ pants and my black PJ pants with the candies all over them, that Old Navy was selling one Halloween season. My little Ms Sunshine jammies – my sign in name on the Frumster dating site was Lil Ms Sunshine, so these PJs really tickled my funny bone.

I have great sweat pants, but they are huge. It is time to pass them on to a better home. My Juicy workout pants too – yes, indeed, that’s what it says across the behind, and while I never wore them out of the house, it always seemed weird advertising to me…to have the word JUICY on your butt.

So, before I go to sleep, I will bag up that which doesn’t fit, and close the book on my fat clothes and my fat years. I feel healthier than I have in a long time, ‘cept for the gnarly back pain, and I take great pride in knowing how far I have come.

    45 pounds? How did you do it? Amazing! I always thought you were naturally a skinny minnie!

      I was skinny all my life, even through pregnancy all I had to show was a tiny belly. Then I got divorced. I piled on the weight without realizing it! once it hit me how big I had become, I made changes. It took quite a while, but BH I am back to my normal slim self, and I plan to stay like this forever.

        Happened to me too….I was never “skinny” but always a size 6, then, my fiance left me two weeks before our wedding (with no explanation!), I too have gained weight — about 35 pounds — I’m working hard now to take it off!

    Hehe, the word ‘juicy’ on anyone’s butt is a tad bit lame, not to mention the utter tackiness … to say the least :-)

    wow, 45 lbs!!!!!!!!! nice job, congratulations! i wish more Americans followed your example …

      Chavivah – you can do it – I won’t pretend it is easy or simple, but you can. (I say this because I used to think that I couldn’t do it either, but over the last 11 months I have lost over 55 pounds.) I’ve been doing WW and finding that it works well with my kosher/vegetarian diet. (I am not glueten free, but other people in my WW group are, so let me know if you want me to ask them for tips for you.)

    Wow, I had no idea you were ever overweight. You look so slim and beautiful, like you’ve always been that way. Kudos to you for your success, and yes, get rid of those sweats!!!!

    Another one here who assumed you were always a Skinny Minnie. Whatever inspiration got you to work hard to drop 45 lbs, I’d love some too!

    Inspiration to drop kilos (or pounds):

    eat 5 different fruits and vegetables every day.

    I started out eating more fruit than vegetables, but ended up eating 5 different vegetables and more per day, and it helped me drop 10 Kilos.

    The idea was: eat like an elephant: big quantities, but low calories = fruit and vegetables (vegetables are lowest in calories, you can eat kilos and kilos of them for less calories than a coke, and fruit are next).

    With the time, I changed my shopping habits (have always enough fresh fruit and vegetables at home, buy some new every 2 days or so, go shopping when you run out).

    I also changed eating habits: when I have a crave for sweets, I take a fruit, or even vegetables like raddish (that makes the crave for sweets go away and replaces it with a crave for sharp things).

    Other than that, I eat three meals a day (you should not go under 1600-2000 calories a day when dieting) and also a small sweet thing. I more or less go according to this pyramide: lots of fruits and vegetables, drink only water, 3 portions of milk products, 3 portions of carbohydrates (bread, rice, potatoes), 1 portion of proteins (meat, fish, eggs, tofu) per day.

    oh, and: drink tea (hot, unsweatenened).

    It is amazing how much a hot drink makes you feel filled up and makes hunger go away.

    There are lots of teas in many flavours you might like to try out, and even original new drinks like ginger juice (pour hot water on fresh ginger, drink it hot or cold)

    A couple of years ago, my husband and I followed a healthy eating regimen for a month, which resulted in the loss of our sugar craving. It also took 10 pounds off of each of us, which we gladly parted with, although didn’t expect at all. It’s not why we did it in the first place. Our aim was totally not weight loss. Afterwards, many people asked what we had done, and I have since coached both friends and relatives to successfully adhere to the guidelines and every one of them has seen amazing results. I am in the midst of working on a website that will explain it in a more organized fashion, but if any of you are interested, then here’s a link to the very short-lived blog that I used to get some of the info out there.

    Wow! Congrats! 45 pounds is a major accomplishment! And so is weeding through those clothes. :) I think a quilt, or maybe pillow covers, would be a nice way to keep those sentimental items around. Also, I agree with you about the words on the backside of pants thing.
