Dear Washing Machine

I think I will CC the drier on this one too.

I am busy. I am juggling work and kids and house and everything else.

I throw a load of clothes in and then it’s three hours later (on a good day) and I realize that wet soggy clothes have been sitting in you getting all wrinkled.

Same happens with you drier, except at least the clothes are dry while they are sitting there for hours getting wrinkled.

Can’t you just send me an email or a text message that the load is done, and that it needs to be emptied?

Better yet – can’t you guys work out some kind of deal between the two of you so that I don’t need to be involved in any of the process?

Thanks guys.

  1. my dad sets an alarm. one of those wind up kitchen timers. when it goes ding, he goes and plays the next level (it’s a game, right?). then he sets it again, but this time, a minute or two earlier, so he will be there when the dryer finishes. wouldn’t want anything wrinkled at all, right?

that actually makes a lot of sense. I could set an alarm on my Droid….but I have to remember to do that…and in between turning on the machine and picking up my Droid 17 things can happen.

Mine is all fancy-pantsy and it plays a little tune when it’s done (both washer and dryer). It’s kind of sad, but sometimes the tune is the highlight of my day.

There actually is a combo machine that washes and then dries the load of laundry – it takes several hours for one load though.

I’ve seen them in small apartments where they are used to conserve space.

Stick the laundry in in the morning, go to work, come home to washed and dried clothing!

Ditto on the kitchen timer for the laundry.
