    Its a Fanny Pack

  2. Frayda says:

    fanny pack

  3. Tom zucker-Scharff says:

A fanny pack is the only thing I’ve ever heard it called.

  4. Erin says:

If it’s not a fanny pack, it’s a man purse.

  5. Chavi says:

    Fanny pack!

Or “how to spot a tourist.” LOL.

  6. Kerstin says:

I’m sure *you* wouldn’t be calling it a fanny pack, though. :)

Fanny’s rather a dirty word here in the UK… The first time I said the phrase to my in-laws, they recoiled at my potty mouth. I’ve learned to call it a bum bag now.

  7. Mark says:

No, it’s not a “man bag” (man purse), those don’t have the things on each side of the waist.

    This is a man bag – http://www.amazon.com/Small-Chestnut-Leather-Pouch-Theyll/dp/B001M5A2XW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid=1250612347&sr=1-1

Man bags also come in canvas, cloth, or plastic.

  8. Mark says:

The fanny pack (Canada, US), belt pack (US), belly bag (US), Buffalo pouch (US), hip sack (US), hip pack (UK), or bum bag (UK, Oceania), or the Joe bag, and man bag, is a small fabric pouch secured with a zipper and worn at the waist by a strap around the hips.

So, UK appears to be “hip pack” or “bum bag”.

  9. Elana says:

fanny-pack. although my 4 yr old would call it a “waist-around”.

  10. David says:

Looks like free advertising to me…

  11. hadassahsabo says:

so let me weigh in here. we grew up calling it a bum bag. there is no way, even if i am in this corner of the earth for the rest of my life, that i will EVER call it a F…y Pack. thats just wrong. but calling it anything else here makes me vulnerable for teasing. its a quandary.

in UK, as Kerstin pointed out, the word F…y is rude. almost as bad as the C word here. But when in Rome…

  12. harmless says:

I would just call it “ugly”. So how about calling it that really ugly thing that you wear around your waist and can’t understand why every tourist has to wear one.

  13. Mark says:

Why would you never call it a “fanny” pack? What exactly does fanny mean in UK anyway? I always thought it means the same thing as bum does!

Also, “Fanny” is a common name among elderly white females, especially elderly white Jewish females from the NY area!

  14. Jewish Side says:

my neighbor’s name is Fanny! She’s from Israel though, and pronounces it as “Funny”.

  15. E. Fink says:

    It IS a Fanny Pack.

For some reason my siblings and parents (and I guess me too) call it a Nerd Pack.

  16. Gave A Get says:

It’s a bag to put things in when you don’t want to tie up your hands or wear something over your shoulder.

    It’s also a fanny pack.
