You are adorable Hadassah! (KoD, how many times did you play this?) ;) Don’t let the car troubles get you down! I am glad the car will be fixed by thursday. I always say when there is car trouble it should be a kapparah for me and my family that instead of any illnesses let the illess and bad stuff go on the car.

If your neighbor is cool with it and you don’t mind driving without heat, it is a fairly simple procedure to simply bypass the heater core.

All the heater core is is a small radiator that the heater fan blows across to… well heat the car. I know that Canada can be cold, but if you can dress warmly so that you won’t freeze during the six hour drive, then my suggestion is to just bypass the thing, it shouldn’t cost you more than $50. Or if you are mechanically proficient you can do it yourself in about 20min.

i feel your pain. it’s obviously so frustrating to have a brand new car sitting in the driveway/garage collecting dust but as long as this repair will probably be cheaper than the cost of rental cars for future trips, it probably pays to spring for the repair-unless of course, someone else has a car that is in great condition to spare. i agree with LLL, that these kinds of headaches should all be kapparas for illnesses & other medical problems even though car trouble (& household breakdowns) that require costly repairs are always frustrating, annoying & hard to afford :(.

it will be a nice feeling once the repair is done & you are off to see your KoD though! have a safe & smooth ride :)!

Mekubal…even if Hadassah wouldn’t mind getting frost bite while driving to NY, she is the mother of four boys and needs a HEATED car especially in Canada.
You might as well tell her to hitch a ride on Santa’s sleigh. Ya know, just drop her down KoD’s chimney :)

  6. How does someone get listed in the “Cast of Characters”?

    King of Chumus

    • Lady Lock and Load says:

Sorry What War Zone??? There is only one King over here. The KoD! :) You may have to come up with another name.
I think you have to feed the Royal Couple to be on the cast of characters. Or related. Or they have to like you…

      • hadassahsabo says:

LLL the King of Chummus has come by his name in the proper manner. He has royal approval.

and Benji – the cast of characters – we have to have broken bread together more than once….

    • sheldan says:

      Benji,

I thought KoC meant “king of clubs”! (since you are a comedian…) :-)

  7. WHOOOO-HOOOO!!!!! That means I have a shot. Maybe I can arrange a show in Canada…. Or maybe it’s time for a family trip to Israel, hmm???

    Benji

    • hadassahsabo says:

oh how I wish we could just pop over….next time you are on tour over here, make sure you stop by NY…we will feed you.

  8. Lady Lock and Load says:

Welcome to the kingdom, King of Chummus! I love chummus, I eat it everyday (thanks to costco..)

  9. Frayda says:

    Hadassah,

You are a really strong and special woman. I know you know that but this video just proves it again. I love your positive attitude and your great sense of humor. Have a wonderful chanukah and I’m sure you will have a safe trip to NY.

  10. dcam says:

Also if your heater core is gone and you have car full of people you will almost definitely have major condensation on the inside of your windshield that may even freeze if it cold enough outside. And that is really not safe.

  11. Z! says:

We both know how important it is to have a safe, fully functioning vehicle to travel such long distance. Not to mention the Adirondaks where phone reception is so sketchy and the roads can be dangerous. Is it not possible to find someone else heading to Monsey this Shabbos, to ‘bum a ride’?
