Pepper Poll

301374-Golden-LasagnaWe wanted to go out to pick up dinner last night. KoD really wanted lasagna. The place where we went had lasagna. Oh goodie! But theirs came with green peppers in it. KoD, who loves lasagna, said “who puts green peppers in lasagna???” – all horrified and skeeved out….

So here is my unscientific poll – what do you put in your lasagna, and do you ever / have you ever put green peppers in?

Thanks…

  1. No, but only b/c the kids wouldn’t eat it. I think it would be delicious…

  2. The Birth Whisperer says:

I keep it real simple. Noodles, American cheese, marinara sauce and cottage cheese. Yum!

  3. batya from NJ says:

never heard of green peppers in lasagna but i still would eat it (especially if you were treating :)!

  4. Frayda says:

I have never in the past put peppers in my lasagna but I am considering it. My friend recently served me lasagna with peppers and it was delicious!

  5. Farrah says:

I put in roasted red peppers, fresh spinach, mushrooms, ricotta and mozzarella. Delish!

  6. Lara says:

I put peppers in mine from time to time. It really depends on which sauce I have in the freezer. If I have my chunky garden sauce it has peppers. If I have my meaty sauce it doesn’t. My family likes it either way so it’s really a win/win situation

  7. i’ve never made lasagna, but I like the kind that has lots of veggies in it, like peppers and mushrooms and eggplant and zucchinis and other good stuff. I don’t like green peppers in general though (only red/yellow/orange peppers) so I probably wouldn’t like it in lasagna.

  8. Chanief says:

I would never want to ruin a perfectly good cheesy lasagna with vegetables (the horror!) So, no peppers in mine! ;)

  9. Mark says:

We never put peppers into regular lasagna. Sometimes we will put peppers into vegetable lasagna (but not green ones, because my wife doesn’t like green peppers).

  10. lady lock and load says:

I made a vegetable cheese lasagna for shavuous with roasted red peppers and spinach and other veggies. It is still sitting in the freezer, they were not so crazy about it. Maybe I should defrost it and use it up, even though they don’t like it too much a shame to throw out my hard work!

  11. Risa says:

    Funny you should ask…
I made meat lasangna for shabbat and it had peppers in the sauce (green ones and pickeled red ones)and I liked it very much as did ‘the man’.

  12. David says:

Regardless of what I put in my lasangna, the one in the picture ain’t kosher…

  13. hadassahsabo says:

david – it could be pareve ground round – you know, the fake stuff…

  14. Erin says:

Green peppers…probably not. I do put red peppers in my ultra-veggie lasagna though.

  15. Mottel says:

I would use red peppers – not green.

  16. kafka says:

I think that lasagna is a classic Italian dish, which like some other classics, is very simple (peasant) food. as such the variations on the dish are endless, put whatever you like and it will still work. Similar with Pizza, Pasta, Sushi, Houmous, Tzulnet…. I would add red pepers, but I think that anything works (as long as it does).

  17. ilanadavita says:

I put green and red peppers as well as zucchini and eggplant, and tomatoes of course.

  18. z! says:

In my sauce I like to use eggplant and zucchinni. We’re not big green pepper eaters here.

  19. [...] was so delicious, and perfectly cooked. (and no green peppers in it [...]

  20. tara says:

It all about the cheese and then the meat if that’s what you like. Me sweet/spicy italian sauage mixed with the ground beef . Cheese: cheddar, mozzarella, ricotta, parma and the sauce
