Is it just my kids?

Or are your kids also in training to be lawyers? Everything that I ask from them, they ask for a continuance, or a delay based on insufficient evidence that what you are asking is actually worth their effort. Apparently you need to be emotionally ready to set the table, or take a shower, or put away your laundry. Did you know that? And G-d Forbid you ask them to do more than one thing at a time, they will plead unfair bias and move for the task to be assigned to a sibling who is more “worthy”. Ask them to do three things and they cry prejudice.

When I was knee high to a grasshopper I did what I was told. Immediately. No questions asked. Sigh…the good old days…

Hey Hadassah! My kids listen to EVERYTHING I tell them just as soon as I say it! When I say, “jump” they say “how high?!” & if you believe that, boy, have I got a bridge to sell you ;)! LOLOLOL!!!!

I have a friend on facebook who is a lawyer….got married and now has five kiddies under the age of eight. She was writing about her week, with kid number one-strep, kid number two-stitches, and had to go back cause they opened up, kid number three….etc. and she has strep too. Someone wrote that she should have been a doctor instead of a lawyer, so I wrote DON’T WORRY, YOUR LAW EXPERIENCE WILL COME IN HANDY WHEN THEY BECOME TEENAGERS! :)

All kids are LIT’s (“lawyers in training”), even the very young ones.

My kids listen carefully to everything that I say, they then choose to ignore it. They aren’t lawyers in training, they are clearly specialists in that department already.

Not just your kids, my students too. Not that it is reassuring!

Ditto. As a child, I pretty much did as I was told. This generation? No way. They want to see how serious you are before complying. Unfortunately, you can’t sound stern for every request, so they become wise to how much of a priority it is.
