2000th Post!!

2000th Post!!

When I started writing this blog, just over 5 years ago, I had no idea that I would still be writing it in 2013, AND that people would actually want to read anything I had to say. Or that I would reach two thousand posts and almost 20,000 comments!!!

I started writing because I was lonely – I was a single mom, and my evenings stretched out ahead of me. The kids went to sleep and I had nothing to do. I decided to write, to start a blog, and see what happened. I never expected anything to come of it. I did it only for myself – to put my thoughts down on paper and see if anyone out there was listening. I joined Twitter, and eventually after much hesitation joined Facebook.

As I wrote the first post I was 35, a single mom, not working, living in Montreal, hoping that maybe one day I would meet the right guy and remarry but resigned to it never happening. I had no idea that there was anything good in store for me in the future, and I tried to be accepting of that.

Since then:

  • I had many adventures in dating.
  • I met the man of my dreams – the KoD. We became engaged, and married two months later.
  • The boys and I went through eleven-hundred circles of immigration hell to try to move to be with KoD in Monsey.
  • I spent hours and hours driving up and down between Monsey and Montreal with many stories to tell about my trips and border crossings.
  • I have barmitzvahed THREE of my four boys.
  • We adopted Max, our favourite canine friend.
  • Professionally I seem to have acquired a career in social media – specifically involving the Kosher food industry. Initially with Joy of Kosher, and now with KOL Foods and Great Kosher Restaurants International.
  • I have started writing for the Times of Israeland have a reputation as something of a foodie.
  • I have followings on many different social networks – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, FourSquare to name a few.
  • In the five years since I started this blog my children have grown up so much. This year my oldest turns 18 and heads to Israel, with his younger brothers itching to follow in his footsteps.
  • I turned the big 40 this year and the blog that was started by a thirty-something mom, is now written by a forty-something mom who is a lot older and wiser.
  • In the last year I moved the blog from WordPress to its own website – a huge step, but one that brings me great joy.

I have no plans to stop writing any time soon – I love what I do, I love my life here in New York, I love the kosher food industry – five years later I believe I am where I am meant to be, with the KoD by my side, supporting me unconditionally.

Thank you to all of you who come by to read my posts – I couldn’t continue this without you.

Mazel Tov!! I enjoy your writing as much now as I did the first time I read a WordPress post soon after we first met. Even when your writing involves me and I experienced what you are writing about, your writing style always entertains me and oftentimes makes me think. You are a superb writer not to mention a great wife, mother and friend.
